Christmas is Almost Here!

Today was the last day of school for the year 2015! We started the morning off with a little bit of Christmas-related math and then got right to our annual Book Swap!

A Book Swap is when the students are asked to bring in a book that is not gender specific and have it already wrapped. The books are put in the middle of our circle and we sit around it. In a hat are the numbers 1-26 and everyone picks a number at random. This dictates the order you get to choose a book from the pile. The catch is, you may also choose to “steal” a book from someone else. Subsequently, that person then has to choose another book from the pile, or “steal” from another person! You can only “steal” up to 3 times. At the end, once everyone finally has a book, we all open our gifts at the same time. Have a look below at this in action!

We had hot chocolate and marshmallows while we had reading time. In the afternoon, we all joined in the gym for the movie Frozen while we sat with our Reading Buddies. It was a busy but good day!

Wishing you all a very holy, joyful, and Merry Christmas!

See you all in 2016!

Mrs. Sullivan

Dear Mrs. Sullivan an d class,
I really had fun on the day of the book swap/last day of school. I had a great time during the reading marathon and bookshop because it gave me a chance to get right into a good book! I really enjoy when we have fun days like this because we don’t have to do much work and we can just have fun. I hope we have some more awesome, super fun days like this in the future!
    Sincerely,
    Noah
