September 15

It’s Dot Day!

dotdaySeptember the 15th marks a very special day for people around the world…Dot Day! It’s based on a book called The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. Over 6 million people this year signed up to participate. Wow!

Listen to a reading of the book by the author:

Our class did such a fabulous job today “dot-ifying” themselves even before they got to school! Parents helped make the day extra special by cutting sandwiches into circles and packing their child’s lunch with snacks that were circles such as cucumber or cookies!

We had a fun-filled day with a plethora of activities that kept our bodies and minds thinking of dots….

Twister, frisbee, hula-hooping, beach-ball tossing, Connect-the-Dots, drawing dots outside with chalk, making 3D Dots with Ipads, Eating Smarties Dots, Dot Headbands…and more!

img_0918Mrs. Sullivan started the day with reading the book The Dot and then we broke out into our teams and had a discussion about parts of the book.

There were several classrooms participating in Dot Day with us…hopefully we can add even MORE classrooms from our school next year!

Have a look at us in action today…
