Mystery Reader #1 Revealed!
Last week, our class had our very first mystery reader who had us guessing until the last clue was revealed and then some of our students started to figure out who she was…it was Domenic’s mom!
We enjoyed listening to a story called Roxaboxen by Alice McLerran and Illustrated by Barbara Cooney. It is a story about imagination and treasured places. I think this is a universal story where many of us can relate. For instance, after the story, we had a nice discussion and made self-to-text connections about times when we’ve used our imaginations to make things. Making sandcastles at the beach, snow forts at recess, forts with couch pillows, blankets, using cardboard boxes to make houses, shops, etc. All we need to do is set our minds free and think creatively! Make-believe is so much fun!
A big thank you to Domenic’s mom who did such a fantastic job of reading Roxaboxen to us. It is so special to have guests come in and share their love of books with us. We are already looking forward to next week’s guest!

Thanks for having me. I also enjoyed reading Roxaboxen. You are a great group and it was my pleasure.
