Benchball and Other Class Happenings

Benchball is a fun, invigorating game which involves 2 teams whose goal it is to have all of their team standing on the bench by the end of the game.

One person from each team is chosen to begin on the bench opposite of the playing ‘field’. This person’s job is to catch the ball. If the ball is caught, the team member who threw it can join him/her on the bench. If you step off the bench, you must go back onto your side and try again. Collaboration and plenty of team effort helps teams to succeed!

Have a look below at a game nearing the end of the match.

There’s always a lot going on in our Gr.3 classroom. Have a look below and see some of the things we’ve been up to!

    Hi Mrs. Sullivan,

Owen has had so much fun playing benchball – woohoo! I think a parent – student game would be a really fun idea 🤗😁👍

    Hi Mrs. Sullivan’s class!

My name is Gabi, and I’m from the Comox Valley in British Columbia. I’m a grade 7 student and our class blog is huzzah.edublogs.org

Your version of Benchball sounds really fun! It’s a lot different than ours! In our game if you get hit with the ball you go to the other team’s bench, and your team members throw you the ball. If you catch it, you’re back in the game.
I’ll suggest your version to my teacher and maybe we can try it!
    Happy blogging,

    Gabi

      Gabi,
That sounds very interesting! I guess I should have known there would be different versions of the game. How often does your class have phys-ed? We have the gym twice per week. Going outside is always an option, too. Thanks for visiting!

        Hi Mrs. Sullivan’s class!
I’m back! Thanks for replying to my comment! I’m shocked that you only have the gym twice a week! My class has it once a day! I like going outside for gym when it’s sunny out. I enjoy capture the flag on the field. Do you know how to play capture the flag?

          Dear Gabi,
Wow! You are very blessed to have gym once/day! I think that is amazing! We learned how to play Capture the Flag and played it in the gym. We plan to play it again soon…perhaps outside! Just like BenchBall, there are many variations to the game, I’m sure. I’ll bet our version is different than yours. What do you like best about playing Capture the Flag?

    Dear Mrs. Sullivan,
We really enjoy playing Benchball. We try hard to play as a team, sharing the ball. Perhaps we could try playing outside one time. I saw some pictures of Turkey Bingo–we loved playing it! Unfortunately, no one in our class won a turkey, but some people were close to winning one. Mrs. Rudy looked really funny in her chicken costume. Could we try playing Benchball again?
