What is a Peacemaker?

In early November each year, students will learn about the importance of Remembrance Day, what it means and its significance.

Also at this time of year, we learn about peace and the difference between a peacemaker and peacebreaker. Today, each student wrote a paragraph about an instance when he or she was a peacemaker themselves. Some students shared that they helped put dishes away without being asked. Another student shared that they helped friends come to a resolution, thus avoiding an argument. There were many wonderful examples!

We also watched the video below and stopped at various points to discuss what was happening and understand how the man’s acts of kindness had a ripple effect on those around him.

Kindness is contagious!

How does it make you feel to do an act of kindness for someone else?

What does it mean “Kindness is contagious”?

      Dear Valeria,
Being kind to others is such a simple way to create happiness in others and in ourselves.

It is a good idea to be a peacemaker. It is not a good idea to be a
peacebreaker.A peacemaker will bring love to the world.A peacebreaker will bring hate to the world.Remember to be a peacemaker, not a peacebreaker.

When I do an act of kindness for someone else it makes me feel happy because if someone else is happy, I am happy. Yesterday I shared my new paints with my sisters and they were happy, and today they made paintings together, and now everyone is happy. And also today I made breakfast and it was delicious, and everyone was happy.
“Kindness is contagious” means that if someone else is kind that means you will be kind. In the video the man gives the little girl the money and she goes to school and when she got back she taught her mother.

    To, everyone,
I love being a peacemaker, would you like it if everyone was a peacemaker? I would LOVE it. Please don’t be a peaceBREAKER!
    From,
    George
