JOY-Full Socks

Last week, our class participated in the JOY-Full socks campaign. If you’re not familiar with it, JOY-Full Socks is a Christmas campaign with the goal of donating life’s basic necessities like warm socks and grooming products to those less fortunate.

The students enjoyed learning about the 2 places that would receive our donations and loved putting them together along with a little cheerful note attached. The 2 places that received all the donations were the Men’s Mission and the Rotholme Women’s & Family Shelter.

Elaine, the lady in charge of the campaign, had this to say today:

To all the kind souls out there who gave to JOY-Full Socks this year, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart.
We delivered your gifts yesterday to London Mission Services and you wouldn’t believe what you’ve accomplished!
We smashed last years totals! They received a total of 1023 pairs of socks! 778 of them were filled with grooming products!
We also delivered a large box each of toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, soap and one filled with misc products!
That’s not all… we also left them with boxes and boxes of new and gently used clothing, purses, scarves and mittens and coats.
The staff was speechless! Some were moved to tears, which of course got me going…Brian was very close too!
Once again you have given me a gift that I will not soon forget. To hand your generous donations over to them is one of the most humbling experiences of my life…it is the absolute true meaning of Christmas! Once again, thank you and God bless you all!

What a fantastic cause to support and I know those who will be receiving the socks will truly feel overjoyed at your generosity. You should feel very good to know your support will be warmly received by those who are less fortunate than ourselves. Wonderful work Gr.5/6s, and thank you, Elaine!
