Mystery Reader #2 Revealed!

eachkindnessIt was clue #3 about horseback riding that gave away who our 2nd mystery reader was…Vanessa’s dad!

Today, Vanessa’s dad read to us a book called Each Kindness by Jacqueline Woodson–a very appropriate book for Bullying Awareness week which begins next Monday, along with the recent developments of the U.S. election.

We learned about the character, Maya, who was made to feel unwelcome in her new class and school. None of her peers wanted to play with her or accept her for who she was. We discussed the ‘ripple effect‘…that “each little thing we do goes out like a ripple into the world.” Our actions and our words affect others and sometimes we don’t realize how much it affects someone else until it may be too late.

ripplesIn our class discussion, we shared our we have shown kindness to others. Some students shared that they helped entertain a younger sibling so mom could do other things, or helping someone with their groceries who may be struggling.  There are so many opportunities to be a light for others…
