Biography Presentations

Our class has finished their biography projects which also involved a presentation to the class. We explored all sorts of people including athletes such as Tom Longboat and Sam Dickinson, scientists such as Stephen Hawking, and leaders such as Martin Luther King, Malala, and Joseph Stalin.

We learned so much through the research process and presented the material with confidence. Great work, Grade 3s!

Happy Easter!

It is a joyful time of year when flowers start to bloom in our gardens and the temperatures slowly rise. Hopefully the last of the snow has been seen.

Easter is a time of renewal, new beginnings, and spiritual reflection as we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus. Easter is rich in symbolism and is a time for family gathering.

May the blessings of Easter fill your home with warmth and happiness. Have a wonderful weekend!

Egg Drop

As our culminating task in our Forces unit, our class had to design and build a protective device for a raw egg. The egg would be dropped from the roof our school.

We looked at how helmets are made and thought about which materials would best be used to cushion and protect the egg.

Students worked in teams to build their designs and had to reflect on their results. Would they change anything? Did their design have the effect they desired? Did the egg stay in tact?

We are happy to report that 5 out of 6 groups were successful in having their egg stay in tact. Amazing! Congratulations to all groups for their innovative designs, for being thoughtful scientists, and for having fun with science!
