For the olympics figure skating is my favourite. If I ever went into the olympics I would want to go into figure skating because it is always looks so amazing to watch and because to me figure skating is really cool. Some figure skaters that are in the olypics this year are Kaetlyn Osmond, Tessa, and Scott. Figure skating in the olypics would take alot of years of practice. Figure skating is dance and skating put together. I love watching Figure skating in the olypics.
Winter is the best season ever! You can do lots of fun stuff in the winter. One of my personal favourites is to snowboard. You can also toboggan, ice skate, ski and have snow ball fights. You can build a rocking snowman too! I also love winter because Christmas happens during the winter. I love spending time with my family, opening presents and thanking Jesus. I really love watching the Winter Olympics. It is exciting to cheer on my home country Canada. My favourite sport to watch is luge because it looks like a lot of fun to do and it would be really fast to go down the track. I also like to play in the snow. It is really fun to just hang around in the snow and make snow angels and build forts. This is winter awesomeness!!
All of these types of questions were part of a sorting exercise we did in class earlier this week. We discovered that many shapes that are familiar to us (ie. rhombus, parallelogram, square, rectangle, trapezoid) have overlapping properties!
Have a look at the wonderfully done tutorial made by Ryerson, Chris, Aliyah, and Sofia!
Curling is a unique sport played in the Winter Olympics and all year round. Curling can have very tense moments and requires lots of concentration, precision, and teamwork to play. You never know what is going to happen next and how the rocks are going to deflect off of each other.
How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day? Well, at our school, we had a great time dancing to some good tunes by great DJ, and a wonderfully decorated gym!
We hope you had a great Valentine’s Day and celebrated the love and friendship you have with those close to you.
What’s a typical Canadian winter day without some fun in the snow?
I wanted to share with you a really cool structure that my dad made over the last few days. My dad is an outdoorsy-type of guy and has been interested in reading and learning about camping in the wintertime. When I was younger, he took my sister and I camping over March Break in Algonquin. Camping is definitely in our family!
In one book he was reading, it gave instructions on how to build shelters in the snow. He decided to try to test out the book’s instructions by building one of these structures. It’s not an igloo where you build the walls of the structure one block at a time, but is called a Qhinzee (also spelled Quinzee)! It’s an Athabascan native word. Basically, it involves a lot of piled snow and a good shovel! My dad asked me to help him a little bit, as it is very time-consuming and a lot of physical labour!
Take a look at the video below to see what I’m talking about!
Of course, safety is the most important factor when building one of these. Don’t build one of these without parent supervision and follow all safety measures!
Math games are a great way to reinforce the learning in the classroom. Measuring angles using protractors and Power Polygons has been 2 different activities Room 22 has been doing lately.
The game “Angle Tangle” was a fun way to practice estimating and measuring angles using a protractor. We did this in pairs and had a lot of fun doing it!
Instructions:
Student A had to draw any angle they wanted (acute or obtuse). Student B had to estimate the size of the angle and write it down. Then, student B had to measure the actual angle. Student B’s score is the difference. Student A and B take turns until each has made 5 angles. The student with the lowest total score wins!
Why is there even a top ten list!? there should not even be a top 5. this is sad we need to help the animals because if we did not have dogs or cats what animal would we have to love and hold. We need to stop cutting down trees. We need to stop killing animals it just has to stop.
Canada is so good at mens ice hockey. the Canadian won 14 medal 8 gold 4 silver and 2 bronze. nhl players are aloud to play in the olympic. this is the 2014 canada mens hockey roster

Getting into that Valentines spirit? Hearts are all around and cupid’s arrows are doing their valentines magic! Red, pink and maybe even purple decorations are being put up today all around you. Ah, yes Valentines day the only day of the year to celebrate love. It is also the day named after the feast day of Saint Valentine. Every year on February 14th many people exchange candy, flowers, gifts and cards with their “valentine.” Be sure to tell that special someone how you feel!!!
