Technology Benefits

There are many benefits technology has in ways like fighting terrorist attacks, safety, and helping the environment.   Technology is a powerful tool.   Scientists have made many inventions like lazar canons that can melt through metal, water jets that can cleanly cut apples, and missile silos that launch nukes but on the other hand the missile silos that launched nukes were used to launch a space shuttle to the moon.

The benefits of technology could help fight terrorist attacks by hacking into other countries tech systems to find data that could help fight terrorist attacks.   This can save many lives.   Records show that 3003 people were killed in a single terrorist attack.   Tech benefits could prevent some terrorist attacks from happening.

Another benefit technology has is that it could help the environment a lot.   Cars are more efficient and as a result make the air easier to breathe because there aren’t as many car fumes in the air.   Electric cars were made to be ecofriendly.   Scientists are inventing things that can clean oxygen.

As technology advances a good benefit technology has is that it can make things safer to do, like a has mat suit that protects you when dealing with dangerous chemicals, a space suit that protects astronauts from the vacuum of space, and a submarine for diving far in the ocean.   Without these things we wouldn’t be able to walk on the moon, be safe from dangerous chemicals, or dive far in the ocean.   But there are other things that keep us safe like security systems and roll cages in racecars as well as an armored tank or body armor like a bullet proof vest for the police or soldiers.

Without the benefits of technology we wouldn’t be able to do many of the things that we have things that we have done like go walking on the moon or dive far in the ocean.   We wouldn’t even have security cameras, tanks and body armor for police and soldiers, or even computers.   We wouldn’t be nearly as technologically advanced without the benefits of technology.

Global Warming is Harmful!

Global Warming is Harmful

By: Sarah 🙂

Most people can’t argue with the fact that our world is changing for the worst.  Global warming is one of the biggest changes that is occurring even as we speak!  Global warming is also one of the most harmful changes as well.  Global warming causes many species of animals to die, it threatens the safety of humans, and on top of all that it costs a lot to fix the damage.

In the first place so many animals are going extinct we don’t need that amount doubled because of global warming.  Animals need their natural habitats to survive, so if the polar and southern ice caps melt then all the animals surrounding those areas will die.  Do you as people, the earth’s protectors, want to be the cause of all the animal’s extinction?  People need to snap back into reality and care about the animals in danger!  As the earth heats up animals need to migrate to places like they do regularly.  Animals that migrate might carry diseases, and might migrate to places and take the diseases with them, infecting that whole city, or even the country!  Animals of many species will die from global warming.

Global warming can also effect the safety of humans.  Some of the driest countries will probably be hit the hardest, such as longer droughts in Africa, all because of global warming.  Global warming makes the earth heat up causing heat waves to occur in places that have never had a heat wave before, and also causing the sea levels to rise, because of ice caps melting, which leads to flooding.  The safety of humans all connects to all of these problems.  Such as the flooding could cause hundreds of deaths because of drowning, or in Africa longer droughts could mean more deaths of dehydration.  This is also a big factor in global warming.

Finally money comes into play.  Money is a huge factor in storms, such as hurricanes, and tsunamis.  Global warming causes more storms to occur.  One hurricane is enough, and it can cost up to a million dollars in damage, so imagine how many more storms will occur if global warming accelerates.  Some countries such as in Haiti people are still recovering from hurricane Irene.  Like all the hurricanes in the world, the storms are getting stronger and stronger because of global warming, which could total up to billions of dollars in the damage, so it’s very important that we realize the dangers of global warming and take action.

If you still don’t realize the dangers of global warming, I don’t know what to tell you. If global warming continues lots of animals will die, it will affect the safety of humans of all ages, and it is very costly in many ways.  Do you care enough of the earth’s future to get involved?

Smoking Needs to be Illegal

Smoking Needs to Be Illegal

By: Megan

Think of an innocent girl in the hospital dying because of smoking. But not because of her smoking, it’s because of second-hand-smoking. That’s what smoking did to her. So as you see smoking needs to be illegal. It harms you, it also hurts others, not only for those reasons, but it wastes all of your money.

Smoking is very bad for you and it hurts you badly. Once you start smoking you can’t stop! It’s very addicting and every cigarette you light and burn the worse and worse your body gets. The main thing that smoking does is cause lung cancer, but it can cause any type of cancer. Your lungs is how you breathe so when you breathe the smoke in it goes to your lungs! Your lungs will turn black and you have a good chance of dying. My uncle had cancer for several years. He was a smoker and the smoke gave him five types of cancer. He died after all of that. What a fight! See how it harms you? Do you want to affect yourself? Because smoking will hurt yourself.

Do you want to hurt your loved ones? That’s also what smoking can do to people your close with and random people that might be close to others. If you smoke other people can breathe it in and it can hurt them just as bad as you’re hurting yourself!.Did you know that second-hand-smoking can hurt people more than it hurts you! And people don’t even know what they are doing! That’s bad and unbelievable! I learned about a story about a girl named Sally. Sally’s boss thought of Sally as a sister. He smoked around her because he had no idea how it was affecting her. Sally would cough all the time. One day Sally died. All because of her boss. And think how close they were. In other words second-hand-smoking is very bad!

Think about you wasting all your money and losing everything you have. That’s what smoking can do to you. A small pack of cigars cost $10. Some people burn a pack a day. That’s $70 a week worth of cigars! That’s a money waster. Did you know that the government is increasing taxes to curb people from starting smoking? Why pay the extra price when the government could just make smoking illegal! Think about how much money you’re wasting now! If they make smoking illegal you, if you’re a smoker or non-smoker, could save lots! Smoking wastes so much money.

In conclusion smoking must be illegal! If you smoke your life will be ruined! Smoking will hurt you, hurt others, and waste all of your money! Next time you see a smoker think about the consequences that that person must be going though. I need you if you’re thinking about starting smoking to remember what you will put yourself through.

Farmers Need to be Appreacitated and Thanked More Often

Farmers Need to be Appreciated and Thanked More Often

By: Joe

Have you ever wondered where your food comes from? Most food we eat comes from a farm. Farmers need to be apporeciated and thanked more often because they produce our food, They spend lots of money in the business, and They take care to give us quality products.

The first reason why farmers need to be appreciated is because they produce our food. We rely on their hard work otherwise we would have no food at all.  Farmers work so hard to give us the food we need.  They put so much time and effort and money to help give us good food. Some examples of the foods they provide to us include meat such as beef, chicken, and turkey. Farmers also provide us with vegetables such as corn, beans, a

My second reason why farmers need to be appreciated is because they spend a lot of money in the business. The equipment like tractor combine, bobcat, and loader are a lot of money to buy or to fix. For e tractor it could be about 77,500 for a 2012 used and for new tractor it can be at lease 100,000 and more. The parts are a lot of money and take a long time to get and to put on the farmers equipment.

The farmer takes care to give us quality products., They put so much money to give there animals the best food so don’t eat bad foods that we eat everyday.   Like wheat, meat, milk, goat, eggs, corn, beans, goat milk, sheep, wool, pig, chicken, turkey, bread.

Smoking Should Be Illegal

By:Lucas.G

Over the past several years smoking has been declining, which is great, but there are still more smokers out there that we need to stop.  I can’t do it by myself so I need your help.  I think smoking should be illegal because it has devastating effects on your health, it can put a strain on your finances, and it can impact other people.

In the first place, smoking is bad for your lungs.  The smoke from cigarettes contains tar, which sticks to the cilia in our lungs.  The cilia act like tiny brooms that sweep out harmful dirt, but when you smoke cigarettes, the cilia can’t work because they’re covered in sticky tar.  That means that dirt can stayin the lungs and cause problems.  Did you know that most smokers die of lung cancer than any other disease?

It also effects your mouth, too.  Think about it as the location where the poison from the cigarettes gains access to the rest of you.  Since what you smoke passes through your teeth and your gums, your mouth is nicotine central- in a very bad way.  It destroys the appearance of your teeth by staining them and making your breath smell disgusting.  These are just some of the ways that smoking affects one’s oral health.

Finally, it can also affect your life span.  Did you know that a 30-year-old smoker can expect to live for 35 more years where a 30-year-old nonsmoker can expect to live for 53 more years? That’s crazy!!!  Those are just some of the aspects of smoking that affect your health.

In addition to having devastating affect’s on your health, smoking can put a strain on your finances.  The money wasted on cigarettes is a disgrace!  A 12 pack of cigarettes costs 10 to 13 dollars in Canada plus tax!  So let’s say you buy 3 packs of cigarettes a week and the pack costs 10 dollars, you’re wasting 56 dollars a month.  That’s 1,872 dollars a year!  That’s unacceptable!  Did you know that smoking costs the United States over $150 billion annually in health care costs?  That’s just like throwing money in the garbage for no good reason.  Instead of wasting your money on cigarettes, you could spend it on something important like a child’s education or a family vacation, or even you could donate it to charity because it’s valuable.  As you can see smoking is a total waste of money.  These are just some of the reasons why smoking can be a waste of money.

Finally, smoking should be illegal because it can impact other people.  When you smoke, it pollutes the air around you so if someone walks by, they will probably inhale the polluted air and it could cause serious problems.  This is called “Second Hand-smoke.” It is very bad for everyone around you when you smoke and it’s polluting the air.  Did you know that 3,000 nonsmoking adults die of diseases caused by exposure to second hand-smoke every year?  It also influences them to smoke because when someone walks by a smoker and sees them smoking they might not have learned about smoking, so they might want to try it out because, they don’t know it’s a horrible thing.  Then after they start smoking, they might tell other people to smoke and smoking might become common again!  Those are just some of the reasons why smoking can impact other people.

Essentially, smoking has devastating effects on one’s health, it can put a strain on your finances, and it can impact other people.  In conclusion, I think that smoking should be illegal and don’t forget that. So next time you see someone light up a cigarette, what will you say?

Why You Need Video Replay In The World Cup! by Chris

Why You Need Video Replay In The World Cup!

By Chris O’Donnell

“Messi is up to shoot. He needs to score…He scores but the ref said it is no good.  Spain wins but it look like from the video replay it is a goal.”

“Well Bob, it looks like the ref messed up this one”. If there had been video replay, Messi’s team should have won that game. Video replay in the World Cup is needed because it will be more fair for all teams and the fans will appreciate it,  and finally it will be easier on the referees.

Video replay will be more fair for all teams. If then they do have video replay they can tell if goal are in or not. And then soccer players dives and gets a penalty kick. And you know they score. And I hate that they should not even have it but if they have video replay they can see it.  So much people in the world cup dives and gets away with it. England last world cup they would of move to the next round but the referee said it was no goal so they got kicked out. That was two reasons why you need video replay in the world cup out of a lot.

The second reason why the World Cup should have video replay is because the fans will appreciate it.  As a soccer fan, I know I will. Who wants to have their favorite team get kicked out because of a missed call? Not me. the England fans will like having video replay in the world cup.

Having video replay in the world cup will be easer for the ref. So the ref do get hate a lot. And there is so many sports that have video replay.  Like, football they use video replay for every TD, hockey.

BUT NOT SOCCER!!!!!! Like are you nuts. You need VIDEO REPLAY IN THE WORLD CUP. Because its fair and everyone will love it.

V.I.P Trip

Recently we went on one of the best field trips! It was the V.I.P trip (Values, Influences and Peers).  Constable Boland, our VIP officer, was also at the event. Unfortunately, the K9 unit was on a call and could not join us, but we watched a great video about the kind of work that K9s do as part of the police force.

Check it out!

We got to hear from an emergency nurse, Lisa, who talked about drugs and alcohol and how those substances affect you and what can happen to you. She sees a lot of injuries in her line of work and has witnessed what alcohol and drug abuse can do to you.

A woman from the local Detention Centre told/showed us what a jail looks like and what life is like in jail. She also showed us what the people in jail wear, what they eat with (rubber spoons), and what kind of rules they must follow.

The last person that spoke to us was a motivational speaker named Leroy Hibbert. He talked to us about how important it is to stop racism.

From these presentations our class learned from Lisa: it is extremely important not to do drugs and not to over dose on alcohol or medicine.

From the detention officer we learned: that jail is a scary place, there is no privacy, and the outfits are even scarier.  From Leroy we learned:  that being racist and discriminating against others is something that we shouldn’t do.  Finally from Constable Boland we learned NOT to mess with canines!

What Is The Most Played Sport In The World!

When I was little I always wondered what was the most played sport in the world and I was thinking it was soccer. Now I decided to search it. I checked about 10 websites and all of them said it was soccer. Who knew when I was little I was right.

But my new question is: why is the most played sport in the world is soccer and why not any other sport?
