• At this moment, I’ve received several wonderful Biographies in a Bag assignments. Thanks Daya, Chloe, Paul, Mason, Harry, Logan, and Nicole. Keep them coming!
• We are launching our Writing Realistic Fiction unit!

You are going to spend the next few weeks writing your very own realistic fiction story which you will then turn into your own book. Here’s your first task.

1. Watch the Jack Gantos video and listen to him tell the story of Zippy the Roach. Jack is excellent at using ideas from his OWN life to influence the stories he writes in his books. He’s pretty funny, as you will see.

2. Let’s dig within our own lives for stories that may be hiding and worth writing about. Using a piece of paper, draw a map of the inside of your own house–you can include all levels of your house, your backyard, and even your driveway. Drawing a map of our house may help us remind us or reveal stories that hide within our house–either in our bedroom, in the kitchen, backyard, wherever! You heard Jack’s story that started in his own house.

Math–In the first task, underline the clues in the questions to decide whether they are multiplication or division questions. Then write the equation.  For example, an equation could look like this:  25÷5=5   or   5 x 5 = 25

There’s no spot for solving the problem, but try to figure out the answers in your own space! Hand in on the VLE.

Draw a plant on a piece of paper. Fill the page. Identify the major parts of the plant including root, stem, flower, leaf, seed, and fruit. Bonus: add to your diagram where the stamen and pistil would be! See the video I included to help you.

Math–Do your multiplication quiz. Catch up on any Mathletics or the division math practice from Wednesday.

Science–I’ve assigned everyone a few PLANT books on Epic. After reading, create a Google Doc or a hand-written note listing all the ways that plants are helpful to humans. You may include headings or subtitles to help organize your findings. Include at least 5 pictures in your document.  After reading the book “Healing Plants” and “How are Plants Helpful” on Epic, try the quizzes.

Religion–Palm Sunday is this Sunday. It marks the beginning of Holy Week. Watch the video below and try to make your very own palm frond.

Well, it looks like we’ll be apart from each other a little longer. We may be apart physically, but DO know that I am still here–with you on this learning journey…because we are doing this together!

We take it one day at a time and we do our very best, considering the circumstances, right? You are surrounded by such loving people and it’s important we look for the goodness in the world–starting right in your own home. Ask yourself:

1. What am I thankful for today?
2. Where do I see helpers in the world today?
3. How can I be helpful or kind today?

I don’t know about you, but I find listening to music is really helpful in being a MOOD BOOSTER! So, put on your toe-tapping tunes and get your GROOVE on.

Language–In Google Docs, write a letter to the community of London telling them what you’re doing to get through these challenging times and how they can stay positive even when times may be tough. Use plenty of detail and remember the parts of a letter! When you’ve edited it, share it with me. Work on your letter this week and aim for next Wed. as your deadline.

If you haven’t sent me your letter telling me about how you’re doing, feeling, and so on. Please do so! So far, I’ve received Chloe’s, Romeo’s, Lola’s and Harry’s. Thank you!

Math–Thank you to those who have been sharing their photos of completed 3D robots! Keep working on that task and show me your hard work 🙂

I’ve attached some word problems to do with division. The 1st is for Gr.4, the 2nd is for Gr.3, and the last one is for both grades!  Give it a try. Finally, I’ve added 2 more Mathletics tasks for you to do. If have not yet completed previous tasks, you’ll need to do those first before I assign you more.

*Don’t forget–I’ll be posting a multiplication quiz on Friday! Get ready!

Art–Chalk Your Walk! Provided you have some chalk, consider writing encouraging words on the sidewalks or your driveway to be viewed by those taking a walk – and break – from being cooped up inside.

Science–It’s going to be a nice week! If you haven’t done so yet, take some photos and create a collage! Spring has sprung! What signs of spring do you see? Thanks to Nicole and Lola for theirs!
