Hi Everyone!

We have been doing a lot of reading in class (I think you have too), and I came across a few books that I thought all of you should know about; For girls: Dork Diaries,  and for boys; My Life As A Book! (Although it could be for either…) Also, for a bonus, a book for both genders: The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane.

For The Girls:

Dork Diaries.

Dork Diaries is a series of books that is about a girl named Nikki. In every book, there is SOMETHING that happens to spice things up. She is crushing on a boy named Brandon, has an evil diva for an enemy, and a bratty, hyper little sister. The whole series is formatted as Nikki’s diary.

For The Boys (or really both)

My Life As A Book.

My Life As A Book is about a boy who is very curious. In this book, he finds a newspaper article in his attic that he is suspisious about. When he tells his parents what he found, they fill with regret of keeping that article. This just made him even more curious. He has a dog named Bodi, An ill planned summer vacation (summer school), and a mystery to solve!

For Both Genders

The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane.

The Miraculous Journey Of Edward Tulane is about a Stuffed rabbit made entirely of china named Edward Tulane. In the book, he has an owner who loves him dearly, though he has no feelings towards her. His true adventure begins on a boat with his owner, when he gets lost. he gets retrieved by another owner, and as the story continues, it seems to get worse and worse. Then just when you think it it the worst that it could possibly be, it gets better.

I hope that you try out these amazing books. If you have tried even one already, go tell someone else about the book that you read.

If you have read one of these, tell me which, and what you thought of it below!

Do you have any books to recommend to me?

Don’t be shy to leave me a comment below!

Hurricanes

Hurricanes are the most cool looking, yet most dangerous storms ever! Hurricanes can be typhoons or cyclones depending on where they are. They only happen near oceans and close to the equator.

It is because they need warm moist air to form. The hurricanes get warm moist air because the high pressure air goes into the low pressure making it warm and moist and start to rise then the air swirls around it and the hurricane is made.

Hurricanes are really dangerous and kill many lives. People may say it is cool if you live somewhere far from the equator line or oceans but it is not something to make fun of it is a very dangerous event that kills millions of lives.

Family Day

I love going to movies and playing board games, but doing all of that is way more special and fun when I am doing it with my family! That is why I LOVE Family Day! Family Day is a special time of the year where you bond and get to know your family a little bit better. One of the reasons why I love Family Day so much is because I get to enjoy a enjoy movies that make us laugh (like Epic). I think Family Day is special because their is a ton of activities you can do, swim, play board game, and go to places like the Great Wolf Lodge! Family day is an important holiday to celebrate because it brings families closer together.

#WordsHurt

Whilst patrolling around YouTube, discovered an interactive cyberbullying ‘game’ in which you are talking to this person and you can choose what you say to her which will affect their mood and face. It was really a nice experience seeing how if you say the right things to a person it can brighten their day

Racing Against Drugs

Last week several classes at our school took a trip to experience the annual presentation called “Racing Against Drugs”. This is a chance for students to learn about health and safety, making good choices and being responsible citizens in our community.

Students traveled to various stations or “pit stops” where they spent 10 minutes learning from various professionals about a specific topic. Some of the topics we learned about included cyber safety, bullying, stranger danger, drugs, smoking, Blockparent, CN Railway safety, cyberbullying, fire safety, and much more. The OPP, London Health Sciences Centre, London Fire Department, Paramedics, London Police, Crimestoppers and others were on hand, educating students in fun and interactive ways.

At the end of visiting the pit stops, all visiting schools gathered to watch a highly energetic and competitive race using remote controlled cars that got everyone cheering for their school’s team.

A great learning experience indeed. Have a look below at our experiences:

Trip to Ska-nah-doht

What a beautiful place Ska-nah-doht is! The name comes from the Oneida meaning ‘The village stands again’.

Ska-Nah-Doht, a recreated longhouse village of 1,000 years ago, is located in the beautiful surroundings of Longwoods Road Conservation Area, and is owned and operated by the Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority. Although not built on an actual site, the village is based on data collected by archaeologists and from the traditions passed on by First Nations people.

The village tour was quite hands on and jam-packed with information from our tour guide, Rose. Life was very different back then with no iPads or big box stores to do our shopping at–everything was hand made and people lived off the land. We learned about many things including their methods of travel, how much time it took to travel to different places to hunt and trade, what kinds of animals were hunted and how many hides it took to create one piece of clothing. We discussed the ‘three sisters’ and the roles and responsibilities of the men, women and children. The First Nations peoples were certainly in tune with nature and respected the animals and lands they traveled through.

The positives and negatives about divorce

The Positives and Negatives about Divorce

By: Arianna

Divorce seems to be a common thing in many families. Did you know that 40% of couples are divorced every week?  Most people think that divorce is strictly a negative thing but you may be surprised that that there are some positives that can come from divorce. I believe that there is good things to divorce and bad things so I’m going to tell you both sides of my opinion.  The first thing I am going to talk to you about is how it is going against God’s law. The second thing I am going to talk about is how it causes stress amongst family members. Last but not least I will discuss some positives that can come from divorce.

It says in the bible. When we hold grudges against a genuinely repentant spouse and remain hardhearted toward her or him-whether or not we officially cast the person away-we hinder our own communication with God (1 Pet 3:7-12) and ultimately can invite our own damnation (Mt 18:34-35). And that is why divorce is obeying Gods law. But my opinion with this is that I agree with the bible because when you get married in a church the priest says in god’s name you will love each other till the end but it’s just like a big sin when you break that rule and that is not good so that is why divorce is a negative thing .

Next is another negative of divorce how it causes stress amongst all family members. For one thing the parents feel stressed because they think that there kids don’t love them anymore because they got divorced but being a kid with divorced parents we do know that you still love us. And they think that they don’t have a family anymore when they have step mom step dads and step brothers and sisters but that’s not true because now you have more people that love you and it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and that’s a good feeling.

There are many positives to divorce but I’m going to tell you some. Well one is that kids don’t get upset as much because their parents are no longer fighting because they are no longer together. Also, the kids get double of everything. To explain, the kids now have 2 sets of parents—2 moms and 2 dads. It is wonderful divorce is disobeying God’s law, it causes stress amongst all family members
