Earth Hour: Let’s Help Make a Difference!
This Saturday March 31 at 8:30pm is the annual Earth Hour event that will take place around the globe. Over the past few years, I’ve always promoted it with my students, but for some reason this year…it’s crept up on me, so I apologize for the late blog notice!
We are currently learning about energy in our Science unit, and have just moved into the next phase of our unit, learning about energy conservation. Earth Hour is the perfect way to join in the movement to help make the earth a better place to live.
Take a look at the video below which informs you about this year’s Earth Hour event. Set your watches, write yourself a note…whatever it takes to remember to turn those lights off for one hour.
A little bit of effort can go a looooonnng way!

The video is quite interesting and I like it because if someone comes to see more people can prove it and so maybe people will tell you to do a bad influence not only for ourselves but our children in the future
I really like this video it was cool to see so many perticipents in earth hour! It’s amazing that this all started in 1 place in 1 city now its all around the world and its for a good cause which is to conserve energy. I think that even if we can’t perticapate in earth hour we can do other small things that can like turning off the T.V when your done insead of leaving it on or u could also turn the lights off in a room if no one is occuping the space and needs it, these little things can make a big difference and when you join earth hour its just one of the many things you can do to make our earth a better place for our future.
Hi, I think that earth day is great and even though it’s only one hour it still makes a difference. Sadly I didn’t participate in earth hour because I forgot. Did you participate in earth hour?
That’s a cool video! I didn’t know that people across the globe all do earth hour. In my opinion I think earth hour is a great idea! In fact I was talking to Claire about earth hour and she said “Would if we had earth hour every Sunday”. That could conserve a lot of energy, I would do it. But just the simple things can make such a big difference. For example: turning off the lights when you leave a room, it’s not that hard too do. We are damaging our earth and earth hour is just the first step to making our earth a healthier place and a better place for us to live.
