Longer school days but shorter school year

Have you ever noticed that school days feel long? I think that there should be shorter school days but longer school years because, we should learn more in a year, spend more time with family and, school days feels shorter.

First reason of shorter school days but longer school years is you would learn more because we would have less hours but every day we add would be 5 more days giving us more time in a year to do work. For example, when we had a project due we wouldn’t have to do so much work in one day but we would have more time to do it over the days. Adding more time to the school years also gives teachers more time to mark students in one year making students grade more accurate for a job or other school when the students grow up. Also since there is more time in a year we can do more projects giving the students more time to improve grades.

Reason 2 is, more time with family, in fact more time on our hands in general to do anything. For example school might end at 1:00 and from then until you have to go to sleep to have fun, instead of ending school at 3:45 and not having as much time. You could spend more time doing sports or maybe balance it out like some time spent with friends and some more time spent doing sports and maybe some chores at home.

Reason 3 is days would feel shorter because there are less hours feel shorter because there are less hours a day making time feel as if time would be going by faster making school feel more fun. And it may seem that we lose time for projects, well that’s not true! There is more time in a year spreading out your work around therefor not spending so much time on 1 period and that’s how days feel more fun! And in fact, students learn better when in a good mood.

I think that shorter school days but longer school years is a great idea because: we would learn more, spend more time with family, and school day feels shorter. And that is why I believe in shorter school day but longer school years!

             Soccer is the best sport!

          Did you know that soccer is played in over 200 countries around the world? In fact there are over 240 million people playing soccer world wide! Soccer is the best sport because it really encourages kids to get exercise. Soccer is fun because it’s competitive, you can make great friends for after a little bit.                                                                                                                                     You can have lots of fun while playing soccer. When you play soccer you have fun and you enjoy summer and get fit. The reason soccer is so much fun is because it’s competitive and the non-competitive soccer is not that fun because you are not that tense.                                                                                                                                                                                                                      A good way to get exercise is by playing soccer because you burn calories fast from the practice and the games. When you run up and down you burn calories, then you get fit and when you get fit, you improve your stamina and lower body strength.  Great soccer teams or soccer teams in total usually are great friends and trust each other. I have played competitive soccer for five years on the same team and I have made great friends. I’m the goalie and I trust my friends to help the team out running to the ball when I boot the ball. At the end of the summer there’s a tournament called challenge cup and after that there’s a party! (It’s always fun!)

            Soccer can be entertaining for viewers such as in parents to watch. Soccer is the best sport because soccer is all in one. You can have fun, get fit and make good friends. I hope that when you play soccer you make good friends.

Animals in Captivity

          Have you ever wondered how animals in captivity feel? I would feel trapped. I don’t understand why people put animals in cages for their entire lives. Both their mental and physical health will be affected. In fact, I believe that animals are much better off in the wild.

Many people don’t consider that animals in captivity have been removed from their natural habitat. We know that God created all creatures to live on the earth in their natural habitat. They were each created in a special way to adapt to their environment. When they are taken and placed in captivity, it can be very hard on them.

In many cases, animals are in zoos or theme parks so people can make a lot of money off them, but it is not to benefit the animals whatsoever.

Many studies show that captivity affects animal’s mental health. For example, their stress level increases and they show abnormal behavior.

In a movie about killer whales at sea world showed how the whales became aggressive towards each other while having areas that were too small. Their aggression would sometimes cause death to the other whales and even their human trainers. One mother whale was separated from her baby and she made crying whales sounds for days. A study on tiger’s show that they begin to pace and become anxious when they are in an unnatural habitat and many animals would become bored. It is also important to remember that some animals are very smart and that captivity would be even more difficult for them.

Have you ever wondered why some animal species are going extinct? One of the main reasons is captivity. Animals in captivity are affected physically. For example, many animals are unable to nurture or care for the young. Female chimpanzees get their nurturing skills from their mothers. However, young chimps that have grown up in captivity are not able to learn from their relatives in the wild.

Wild marine animals can travel up to 100 miles daily, eating and socializing, however in captivity they are unable to show their natural behaviors due to lack of space. They would be unable to swim in a straight line for a long time or dive deeply.

Other physical behaviors animals would not be able to do are climbing, stalking and running. Hunting is an important physical activity for predators such as tigers and lions.

In conclusion, I am not in favor of animals being taken from their natural habitats. There is enough evidence to demonstrate that their physical and mental health are greatly affected. God did not create wild animals to be trapped in zoos for human enjoyment!

Internet Safety

The internet is a very interesting place you can learn on it, you can get research for a project, and also you can connect with family and friends.  But the internet can also be a very dangerous place because the websites on the internet can lead kids into inappropriate websites, lured into dangerous situations, and also posts online can have lasting effects.

Let’s start off with the inappropriate websites, well you never know what could be on that website. It could be inappropriate pictures, videos, ads and a lot more.  Kids can be easily lured into that type of thing for example, if the child has a laptop in his or her room and has seen something on the television and searches for that subject and it ends up being a subject that was inappropriate and him or her ends up getting caught in the act and the parents miss understand what he or she was up to.

Now being lured into a dangerous situation that is also called “stranger danger” he or she has access to the internet and gives out personal information then predators hunt him or her down and him or her ends up being missing because of the information that was given on the accessible laptop or computer.  Example, a website that I have heard about can end up getting you into this type of situation so you can never be too sure about those certain type of website.

Last but not least whatever you have posted online can have a lasting effects later in your life, example you could have a hard time trying to get a job because of what you have done.  Also you could end up not being trusted in life just to do the little things that his or her parents once trusted him or her to do.  Such as not being allowed to stay home alone, not being able to use the laptop or the computer for simple little things because his or her parents don’t trust him or her to go on the computer or laptop anymore.

I hope that you realize that the internet can be very helpful place but also a very dangerous place.  Remember that if you ever end up getting into one of these things think of the effects that can happen which are inappropriate websites, dangerous situations, and also posts have lasting effects.  Please keep the message internet safety in your mind when you’re on the computer or the laptop!
